June 23 - 24, 2008 (8:00am - 5:00pm)

Course Description
This course is designed as an advanced “hands on” seminar for Human Resources Professionals who work for multi-establishment contractors that may need to develop AAPs based on functional or business units. The Final Rule published on November 13, 2000 added a new provision to permit contractors to develop an AAP that is organized around business functions or line of business that need not take into account the geographic locations of the establishments and employees. The course will examine how to work through all components of development of a Functional Affirmative Action Plan including the utilization analysis, job group analysis, availability analysis, workforce analysis and other statistical analyses.

This course is also intended to provide information and enable Human Resources Professionals to work through the process of development of a Functional Affirmative Action Plan. A functional or business unit is a component of a company that operates somewhat autonomously. For instance, a functional or business unit may have its own managing official; it may be listed separately on a company’s organizational chart; and/or it may operate under separate cost centers. A functional or business unit may also have personnel transactional activities (i.e., applicant flow, hires, promotion, terminations, etc.) that are distinguishable from other parts of the company. This course will take human resources professionals through the process of determining whether their company would benefit from developing their AAPs along functional/business lines.
